DSL transmits high-speed data anywhere from 50 to 270 times faster than the standard modems out today (1.5 million to 9 million bits per second), so this is a great alternative to a dial-up service provider. Although Cable Modems transmit high-speed data up to 900 times faster (30 million Bits per second) most cable companies cap this speed at around 1.5mbps (million Bits per second). Although both are faster than traditional dial-up, when implemented correctly DSL will provide a higher quality of service combined with a more stable connection.
